About Us

MUSIC AT SAINT MARY’S (MASM)  is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to bring free classical music concerts and events of exceptionally high caliber to the South Amboy community and its surrounding neighbors.  Operating under the auspices of Saint Mary Roman Catholic Church, MASM seeks to broaden the artistic and cultural experiences of community members through its diverse recitals and concerts.  Pre-concert lectures and post-concert “Meet-the-Artists” receptions add to both the edifying and pleasurable aspects of the series.

The series is run by its Executive Director, Christopher M. C. Deibert, and by the governing Board of Directors who see to the general management of the series.  Under their guidance and expertise, the community benefits from 12 to 14 different and unique musical experiences ranging from solo performances to small ensembles to full-blown orchestral productions.  A highlight of series is the annual Young Artists Recital for exceptionally talented New Jersey musicians under the age of 18.  Many of these young musicians have also been featured on NPR’s From the Top and in other national venues.

SAINT MARY CHAMBER ORCHESTRA (SMCO) is a 25 member symphonic organization whose mission is to serve the Central New Jersey community through high-caliber performances of baroque music and other works from the early classical period.  Its membership is comprised entirely of New Jerseyans, most from Middlesex County.  The SMCO presents Handel's Messiah annually in conjunction with the Saint Mary Choral Society every December, and other presentations throughout the year complete each season.  A highlight of 2008 will be an all-Mozart concert featuring Symphonies #40 (G Minor) and #41 (The Jupiter Symphony) and Eine Kleine Nachtmusik.  Pianist-in-Residence Jeannette Fang will join the SMCO at this concert and perform Mozart's famous D Minor Piano Concerto.

The SMCO is led under the baton of Maestro Christopher M. C. Deibert, executive director of MASM.  Born, raised and currently a resident of Middlesex County, he received his training in early music at the Eastman School of Music.  Deibert competently steers the SMCO to historically accurate and exciting performances for the audience.  Ms. Pauline Bradshaw serves as SMCO's concertmaster.

THE SAINT MARY CHORAL SOCIETY is a large ecumenical chorus committed to the performance of great choral works from many different periods.  The group had its debut concert in April of 2003 with an acclaimed performance of Pergolesi's Stabat Mater and Faure's Requiem.  Future Choral Society concerts will include Bach's Magnificat, Durufle's Requiem, Beethoven's Choral Fantasy, and its annual production of Handel's The Messiah.
